The History of Ramallah & The Mizirawi Legacy
Ramallah is an important tourist destination in Palestine. The city is known as the summer resort of Palestine due to its moderate climate in the summer due to its location on the Jerusalem Mountains extending in the middle of Palestine. Since the middle of the last century, Ramallah has been a place of attraction for vacationers from the Arab region. In addition to its moderate climate, the relatively active cultural and artistic movement has contributed to the prosperity of tourism in the city. This active tourism movement was accompanied by the construction of a number of hotels in the city, where vacationers from the Arabian Gulf and other Palestinian regions stayed. It was also accompanied by a number of annual festivals that hosted the most prominent Arab artists in addition to heritage shows and Palestinian dance and dabke shows.
After the emergence of the Palestinian Authority and the partial withdrawal of the occupation from the city at the end of the twentieth century, Ramallah witnessed steady expansion and growth, and its status as a temporary administrative center for the Palestinian Authority was strengthened. Most national and foreign institutions took Ramallah as their headquarters, in addition to major companies, banks, and Palestinian private sector institutions. All of this contributed to strengthening Ramallah’s status as a major destination for visitors from Palestine and abroad.
Over the past two decades, the city has become more than an attraction. The moderate climate and the kindness and generosity of the host are no longer the only reasons to visit the city. Today, the city is full of an active cultural and artistic movement throughout the year. Many people want to visit the city to learn about the general Palestinian situation. Some of them come to the city for the purpose of exploration and learning, and also to work within foreign and international institutions.
